I'd Rather Be With You!

Ahhhh, it's Bootsy baby!!!!  The one and only William "Bootsy" Collins of James Brown and P-Funk fame.  This track is off of his debut solo album titled "Stretchin' Out in Bootsy's Rubber Band" which was released April 1976. This song, "I'd Rather Be With You" is dumb dangerous!! It's mad THICK!!  Gotta check it out...  Bootsy really smacks that bass up.  He's very well known for his bass technique.  As is audible in this track, the bass is really up front in the mix and drives the song.  Also that juicy sound is produced by using envelope filters, which works like a wah-wah effect without using your foot to rock a pedal.  And most importantly, Bootsy is well known for his very strong SLAP technique.  If you dig this check out anything by Parliament, Funkadelic, George Clinton etc. etc. etc.

  2. I love how this song is mixed - I can't say I've ever heard a track so blatantly bass-driven that the bass is all the way up front. But then again, I doubt I will have heard of a single one of the songs you blog about - it is simply not my area of expertise. But I'm liking it.

"Haboglabotribin'" was similarly interesting, but I think the bass was upstaged by the fucking creepy lyrics.
